BREE MITCHELL, PHD — EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CEDAR, OHSU
Dr. Mitchell, is the Executive Director at the Knight Cancer Institute’s Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center (CEDAR) where she has lead the creation of a translational research center focused on detecting and stopping lethal cancer early. She received her MS in Epidemiology and her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dr. Mitchell’s main interests are in advancing our biological understanding of cancer in order to identify and develop better screening tools for early cancer detection. She is particularity interested in working with clinicians to ensure new tools are solving clinically relevant early detection problems. Her scientific experience has spanned the spectrum of early detection including blood based biomarker discovery and validation and molecular imaging. Dr. Mitchell also uses her commercialization experience with assay, instrumentation and software product development to drive the translation of new discoveries towards the clinic.
